HEC has developed a tool to assist the USACE in estimating the wake created by ships moving through shallow water or constrained channels, helping them understand shore erosion and dredging needs. The tool can also assess the dynamic sinkage (squat) associated with vessels navigating in shallow or restricted waters. It incorporates several published methods for these estimations and presents them in an easy-to-use interface that allows multiple ships to be evaluated at various speeds simultaneously. Moreover, it extends these methods to cover additional situations such as ships passing in channels and estimating mooring tension in such scenarios. (2021-2023)
